Ivetta Sunyoung Kang is an artist and poet working across Canada and South Korea. Kang works through site-specific, time-based performance, video and sound installations, scru(i)ptural objects, geometry and text, rooted in cinematics and poetics. She is interested in the semiotics of power re/generating systems and psychological behaviours that occur in tensions between masses and individuals. Her practice de/constructs social phenomena in which the politics of death, volition, displaced proximity, and alternative governing systems provoked through participatory aspects, are placed under prolonged acts of questioning. Kang has presented her work internationally, including at the Seoul Museum of Art Seosomun Branch (South Korea, 2026), the Peace Cultural Bunker (South Korea, 2025), Nuit Blanche Toronto (Canada, 2024), Toronto Biennial of Art (Canada, 2024), Centre Clark (Canada, 2023), the Smithsonian Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden (USA, 2022), and more. She has participated in international artist residencies, including the Seoul Museum of Art Nanji Residency (South Korea, 2025), Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity (Canada, 2025), Art Gallery of Ontario (Canada, 2022), ZK/U (Germany, 2023), and more. She is participating in the international residency program at Künstlerhaus Bethanien (Germany) in 2026–2027.
이베타 강선영은 캐나다와 대한민국을 오가며 활동하는 예술인이자 시인이다. 영화학과 시학에 근거하는 장소 특정, 시간 기반 퍼포먼스, 비디오와 소리 설치, 서사 조형적 오브제, 기하학, 텍스트를 이용하여 창작한다. 개인과 민중(masses)의 긴장 사이에서 발생하는 권력의 재/생산 시스템과 정신적 행동학의 기호학에 관심이 있다. 그의 예술 실천은 죽음의 정치학, 자유 의지, 전치된 근접성, 그리고 참여형 요소를 통해 촉발되는 대안적 통치 체계가 장기간에 걸친 질문의 대상이 되는 사회적 현장을 해체 및 구성한다. 서울시립미술관 서소문 본관(대한민국, 2026), 평화문화진지(대한민국, 2025), 토론토 누이 블랑쉬(캐나다, 2024), 토론토 비엔날레(캐나다, 2024), 센터 클락(캐나다, 2023), 스미스소니언 허쉬혼 미술관 및 조각 정원(미국, 2022) 등에서 작품 발표를 하였으며, 서울시립미술관 난지 미술창작센터(대한민국, 2025), 반프 예술창작센터(캐나다, 2025), 온타리오 현대미술관(캐나다, 2022), ZK/U(독일, 2023) 등의 국제기관의 예술인 레지던시 프로그램에 참여하였다. 그는 2026–2027년도에 독일의 베를린에 있는 쿤스트라 하우스 베타니엔에서 1년 간의 레지던시 프로그램에 참여한다
